Miles away…

WOW, this should be interesting. For some reason I started the day out very low functioning and now adding my recent trip to the beautiful city of Cusco I feel like I have been transported miles away.

I will tell you first of all that last night was KYLIE! The concert was amazing I was sooooo close to her and her dancers it was unbelievable. I snapped lots of pictures and some videos that I can´t wait to upload and share with you. This computer I am using in Cusco seems like the evil older brother of the one I was using in Lima so those pictures might be slow in coming and might even wait until my return to Lima.

The three of us took a taxi to the Estadio Monumental for 15 soles which was pretty good in my books because there was tonnes of traffic and it was really good we left so early. We left at 6:30, we got to the stadium at 7:45, and the concert didn’t start till almost 10:00. Not sure if Kylie was late because the concert was a shorter version than she did in Europe or if it was because she was trying to get her voice back. It was a bit gone last night but she pulled through.

Even though I didn´t get to sit with Jens and Marianne it was still really great to be able to share the concert experience with them. I still can’t decide what impressed me more, Kylie, or the street performer on crutches that played a perfect “Can’t get you out of my head” on a recorder.

After the concert we took a taxi back for 30 soles to which Marianne and mostly Jens harassed me about because they think I did a horrible job of bargining for it LOL. Then we met up with Dutch Daniel and after some pre-night party we went out for our version of the “Kylie after party”. We found this hopping British Pub with a live techno DJ. I didn’t even have my first beverage in me and I was dancing with people in bar, riding stools and being told by the owner that he could sell me outside for a 50% 50% profit. Hmmmm that seemed hilarious last night but as I type this that sounds creepy.

After two really good drinks I headed back to the hostel and left the three of them to keep celebrating our final night together. I had to get up early and feel good for my flight in the morning. But they were so nice to jump on me in the middle of the night when the returned, snap pictures and harrass the heck out of me. God I love them! LOL

So at 8:30 my alarm and Marianne’s alarm went off and while I packed they all visited with me until we shared a big hug and I was on my way.

25 soles to the airport with a really good driver and I had plenty of time for my flight. LAN Peru was a great airline but the flight once we got close to Cusco was scary! The landing here is very tricky and guess this was a very normal flight but wow, all over the place and very bumpy and a FAST decent.

There was a man standing at the airport again with my name because this hostel offers a free ride to the hostel. However it was hilarious, we walked outside of the airport where I assumed his car would be. Nope he hailed a taxi and we got in. The taxi was hilarious! A very small Daewoo with no windows so I assume that is why the seat was wet. My butt was soaked right through so I looked quite the site when I arrived at the hostel. The guy paid the cab so I guess it was a free ride however I tipped the guy because he hauled my bags up stairs to the hostel which at this altitude would have winded me.

The hostel is Samay Wasi and is very cute. Perched high up in the hills over looking the entire city of Cusco. The lady that checked me in is super nice however only speaks spanish. She didn´t fuss with much paper work, just got me to my room ASAP so I could rest for 3 hours and told me that when I woke up I would have some Coca tea for the altitude.

I have been drinking the Coca tea while I type this to you and so far so good. It wasn´t that big of a chore to type out the thoughts I wanted to share. However you had to read them, to me they made sense. I can see that at 808 words this was a lengthy post but I was EatingLifeUp so much between this post and the last. 🙂
