This deserved a small post all to it’s own.
The further south my planes brought me today the languages started to change. The first thing I noticed was the phase out of “Your Welcome” and it’s replacement with “Uh-huh” LOL that brought a smile to my face as soon as the US airways attendant said that to me. Something I have always noticed about the States the further South you travel.
Also the languages are getting more international now. Our last plane was full of different languages. This is perfectly fine and acceptable but apparently not if you are in the Emergency Exit row of the plane.
A couple got into a big stink with the US Airways flight attendant when she asked them for a verbal Yes that they were OK with the duties of sitting in the Emergency exit row. They kept saying “Yes” to her and then she looked at them and said “K time for an English test, what color are the seats you are sitting in” to which the lady replied “Yes” LOL I almost died. So she made them get up and switch seats due to federal TSA regulations. The reasoning she was sticking to was that she didn’t care if they knew how to operate everything according to the pictures. They needed to be able to converse with the rest of the passengers to yell out to them that there was a fire and they had to use a different exit. LOL Sure I will buy that.
Anywhooo that was the language observations for this post! Ciao!
Totally understandable. It’s nice to see Flight Attendants doing their jobs!

Agreed, It makes you feel safer when you see a flight attendant holding firm on something. Man I tell you though, it was all I could do not to laugh and laugh when she answered that her seat color was ¨Yes¨. That lady stayed grumpy for the rest of the entire flight.

Why am I not surprised, the southern US attitude – — I lived across from Detroit for a very long time and had encountered this usage of language often.
Kinda scary that foks just smile sweetly and say “Yes” – – glad the attendant had the presence of mind to ask an ordinary question to measure their comprehension – — I’m glad that she did, for your safety, Neil!!! Yes, a long-ish sort of night / flight.
Anyway, try to have fun and talk soon!
Luv, Cath
