Everything coming up Neil!

So I am writing to you from a keyboard in the Miami airport while on my knees. Not the best place to type from but I wanted to type out this inaugeral post to start of my Peru trip.

This morning I caught the bus to downtown Edmonton, then I took the airport shuttle to the International airport to catch my first of 5 flights for this trip. I got through the check-in and security with no problems what so ever. I was also very happy that US customs stamped my passport!

Then would you believe that my flight to Chicago left EARLY!?!?!! I didn’t know that that was even possible this days with people always running late. This solved my problem with worrying about the 48 mins that I had to get onto my next plane in Chicago O’hare.

One other AMAZING thing was my entire backpack I compressed and packed so light that I am able to take it on every flight so far as carry-on. So that means that if I get somewhere so do my bags! 🙂

On the flight to Chicago I was sitting next to a wonderful 71 year old man named Kurt. He is from Germany originally and was amazing to talk to and hear his life story. I even got to hear about how he escaped out of the iron curtain when he was 22 from East Germany. We even spoke German for a couple sentances once I introduced myself to him in German. His hobby is bird watching and at first I was like “hmmmm OK…” but then he explained further. He isn’t fanatical about it like some people are. His main hobby appears to be travel like me. However his bird watching has helped get him into remote countries and protected remote areas. So far in his lifetime he has visited 60 countries!!!! Today he is en route to Brazil! Kurt has now become my hero! LOL I should also mention that he is Canadian now and has been for like 40+ years.

After I said goodbye to Kurt in Chicago we ended up meeting again in Concourse C of the airport waiting for our next flights. Now would you believe this???? That flight left early too! LOL so I arrived in Charlotte North Caroline with zero problems. Then get this….. The flight to Miami … Left early! LOL and it was a FULL flight and I happened to be sitting in the one row in the plane that someone missed the plane so we had lots of room to spread out.

Now the LONG layover in Miami. Not sure what this night will bring as my flight doesn’t leave until 7:00 in the morning.

I probably won’t send my next update now until I am in Peru. However if tonight is eventful enough it might require another post.
