Asia for Dessert?

I had been saving up the unique part of Istanbul especially for my birthday. Since Istanbul is located on two continents I celebrated my 30th birthday in not only Europe, but also Asia! It was calling me because the view from the hostel roof top terrace was the Asian side. So I went by tram down to the coast and hoped onto a ferry to take me across to the Asian side of Istanbul.

When I got there it felt only slightly different than the European side and as you can see the weather was starting to turn. So I decided to make my only stop in Asia a place called WAFFLE ART!!!!!!!!! Yum Yum Yum! It was an excellent substitute for a birthday cake.

It was a fluffy waffle, with nutella and chocolate spread, topped with banana, kiwi, strawberries, almonds, chocolate chips (white and dark), and pistachios. To die for!

Then it was back to Europe, this time the rain started but I managed to snap a picture on the return trip of the bridge that links Europe with Asia.

When I got back to the Hostel I meat this really great girl from Austria, Sabine. She invited me out with her for a birthday supper at a traditional Turkish restaurant across from the hostel. Including Birthday shots of the wickedly strong Turkish 45% Raki! It was an Ozo black licorice flavored drink that is clear but when you cut it with water it turns a crazy foggy silver. Couldn’t party it up too much though because I needed to be up for 4 am to head to Bucharest.

It certainly adds to the trip when they go well, and when they don’t go well…. well then I recover from them and laugh afterward!

OMG…only you would travel around the world and take a ferry to find a Nutella waffle. I cannot imagine how it could be better than the banana Nutella sandwich you made me….but it sure does look amazing!!
