Where would you?

I want to get to know some of you. Everyday till next Wednesday I am asking and answering a new question. Answer the question yourself by commenting. Question #3: What are 5 countries you would like to visit and why? – Submitted by Miguel
EatingLifeUp answer:

  • Svalbard – Ever since I noticed the islands of Svalbard when I was young I have wanted to experience them.
  • Tibet – Long time goal and inner pull to visit Tibet. Also one of the reasons my favorite movie is “Seven Years in Tibet”
  • Russia – So vast, steeped in intrigue. Would like to visit after learning some of the language because people often assume I speak Russian. I would also like to have a minimum of 4 weeks to visit East, West, Central & Siberia.
  • Brazil – We study Brazil in great detail in Grade 7, that is only part of the reason. I also want to experience some Amazon, and can’t wait to see the risque beaches of Rio! LOL
  • Egypt – I really feel at home in desert conditions, I want to ride a camel, see the pyramids and I have always loved Ancient Egyptian history.

Great question, there are so many. After spending two years studying the world in the Travel Program at Grant MacEwan the list became increasingly long but here are some close to the top.

#1. Egypt, I have always been fascinated with ancient history and the 7 wonders of the Ancient world.

#2. New York City, shopping, night life, shopping, museums, shopping, seeing things I have seen a million times on TV oh yeah and did I mention shopping.

#3. Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, etc.) I would definately want a month to travel around. The sights the sounds, the food, the people, I just want to see it all (oh yeah and cheap knockoffs, love it).

#4. Africa (not sure what part) somewhere I could go on safari and see lions, giraffes, and hippo’s etc. in the wild.

#5. Peru, ever since we learned about it in school I have wanted to see Macchu Picchu and the Nazca Lines.

    1) Japan-I think Japan is interesting to me because there is such a mix, ancient, hightech, traditional and wild.

    2) Southeast Asia-especially Vietnam-I bought a travel book about SE Asia once and read it cover to cover after I started learning about Vietnamese food and therefore some culture.

    3) Caribbean – that bright blue water calls to me

    4) The southern united states – particularly small town Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee – after travelling to Louisiana this year I think it would be a great place for a road trip.

    5) Mexico City -you can fly there direct and it’s not at all like destination Mexico. Street markets and ancient architecture From here you can travel just outside the city and visit coffee plantations and farms.
