Question #4: What was the first record or 8 track or cassette or CD you bought for yourself? – Submitted by Becca
EatingLifeUp answer:
- Tough call, this is going back a very long time! Pretty sure though it was MuchMusic’s “Dance Mix ’95”. I managed to find a youtube sampler of the CD to make sure it was the right one. What a blast from the past! I still love it!

I’m pretty sure my first tape was by Black Box…. cheesy yes but that music can still motivate me to move (great for riding your bike long distances, running on the treadmill, etc).

My first album I bought was the soundtrack for Wayne’s World. I was pretty young and won a gift certificate from a Halloween costume contest.

I saved up my pennies etc. To buy a Jem and the Holograms cassette when I was like 6 or 7, I am sure my mother probably helped out but I can remember scrounging for dimes.

The first vinyl was the Eurythmics: Be Yourself Tonight, but I used to listen to my parents’ ABBA albums before that.

cassette tape -Poison-Slippery When Wet. The guys are wearing so much makeup on the front cover my mom thought it was a girl band and let me get it…little did she know it was all hair metal and spandex from there.
