What Not to Not wear

Marmot Basin

So when you are on the top of a mountain and it is -22 degrees Celsius with a windchill factor you are going to need to bundle up if you still want to have fun.

Chalet

We rented our performance skis the night before in town and bought our lift tickets at our hotel so all we had to do was park the car, ski to the lift and head on up the mountain. After one run we were FREEZING and needed to start over in the Chalet. Our mistake… exposing our skin getting ready at the car.

All warmed up we headed back out in our many layers and we were good for about 3 good runs each time out without having to head in. It was like we had the mountain to ourselves. Wide open runs, sunshine, and some snow that had blown off the mountain top the night before.

Lesley & I

I loved skiing with one headphone in my ear, it was like having your own K2 ski video complete with soundtrack. Standing at the top of Marmot Basin reminded me of standing on the top of Waynu Picchu earlier this year in Peru.

Ice Lashes

This picture doesn’t do it justice but the entire day on the hill I had frosticles hanging from my eyelashes. Such a crazy feeling that I find very Canadian. I felt like I was wearing glitter all day

It was a little chilly that day but what I really remember is how much fun we had.. and how great it was to feel like we had the hill to ourselves. No lines, practically empty runs, great company…. It was worth the added layers 🙂
