Happy Planet

I just woke up at 1:48 am, stumbled to the fridge and reached for the groceries that I purchased after work. The carton I reached for was Happy Planet – ORGANIC Mango Peach Party.

Happy Planet Organic Juices

Soooooo good! I was very excited to see large cartons of Happy Planet juices appear in my local Safeway store recently. I am not sure how long they have been there but I knew as soon as I saw them I was lucky and they would taste great! They have Five juices that come in this large carton format. So far I have tried Pomegranate blueberry bash, Mango Peach Party, and I have Tropical Tango in the fridge I haven’t opened yet. The two I haven’t purchased yet, but will be are Strawberry Banana Smile, and Happiest Orange. PS All are Organic!

For years I have been a big lover of the Happy Planet beverages. My all time favorite? Extreme Green! It is a Pure Juice (not from concentrate) and is a mixture of Apple, Banana, Passionfruit, Plum, Lemon, Spirulina, Alfalfa, Kelp, Spinach, Stinging Nettle, and Dulse. Those of you that may have been around me know that I love to have this drink blended with ice so it turns into a giant green slurpee!
Happy Planet Organic Juices

NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS! Checking out the Happy Planet website, I noticed a few things:

  • They are Canadian! Fruity goodness direct from the West Coast in British Columbia.
  • THEY ARE LAUNCHING SOUP! Not sure if I have mentioned how hard it is as a vegetarian to find soup, but it is. Many vegetable soups have a beef broth. I have even found vegetable stock cubes that have beef or chicken as a first ingredient. NOT SO WITH HAPPY PLANET! It looks like September 2008 they launched nationally 6 great ALL VEGETARIAN soups, many dairy, and gluten free as well. I can’t wait to go to the store and try to find them!
  • They seem truly committed to their mission of “To astonish your taste buds, nourish your body, unite you with the best source of food and drink on the planet, and grow a progressive business from which happiness flows.”
  • As you might expect they also have a strong sense of community. They support local festivals and events (including Pride events) and get involved to make a “Happy Planet”

I hope that by sharing their products, their website, and my love for their juices I have made your planet or at least your food selections a little happier!

mmm I want to try the louisiana corn chowder. The cool thing about these is that even if you like meats you can be picky about the cuts etc. My biggest problem with meats in soups is that it’s 2nd or 3rd grade cuts/hunks no matter what they try to tell you. Lesley wont eat canned soup with meat in it…this is a good alternative. YUM-O

Very good point Becca, I noticed that too, that on their site they give ideas about things you might add to the soup if you wanted like Tofu or Chicken etc. From when I did eat meat I know what you mean about the 3rd grade cuts in some soups.

ps the only thing I noticed about the big juices is that they do have concentrated oj (it’s organic though) in them, which may change the taste from the smaller pure juices

Yes the large juices do have organic concentrate and the formulations are different but they still have that same great Happy Planet taste.

They should pay you for advertising for them

LOL if it helps them stay around and keep producing quality products and introduces others to them I am happy! 🙂

Okay so I was at my corner cafe picking up lunch and I happend to notice two flavours of Happy Planet Juice, I normally would have walked right by but because of your glowing recommendation I decided to give them a shot so I bought both (a little pricey). The Extreme Green is very tasty, I really taste the Banana in it. I have just opened the Extreme Purple and it is also very yummy not quite as powerful flavour as the green but I think I like that. These juices almost feel like a meal, they are much better than the stuff you buy in a bottle.
