Pity Party for One Please

Yesterday I had a great revelation.  I was sitting at home all mopey, and grouchy that I was not traveling for my birthday this year and I had to work.  To make it worse the work day was so nasty it left me with a headache. I cancelled plans with my mom, took two Tylenol and crawled into bed.

Then, I passed myself in the mirror and saw that I was still in my underwear, my hair was a mess and it was now 6:30 PM.  Gloomy was not a good look on me!

So I looked at that sullen man and decided to smarten up and fix the situation!  What would I be doing if I was in a foreign country, alone, on my birthday?  I would be taking myself out on an adventure to do all my favorite things!

I cleaned up, put on a outfit that made me feel good and headed to West Edmonton Mall!  It’s the closest thing to another country we have here (especially with the fashion and tourists).

I went shopping at A&F and got a great pair of jeans on sale in my new size to keep me focused on my body goals.

I went to my favorite restaurant, Earls, ordered my favorite drink, Blended Mojito, my favorite salad, Mixed field greens, and my favorite desert, Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Bean Gelato in a Carmel snap bowl!

Then I went to the 9:50 showing of “The American” at Silvercity.  It was recommended to me by Bev because the movie is filmed almost entirely in Italy, my favorite country!  The movie was perfect for the mood I was in and I immersed into it completely getting lost, picturing myself as George Clooney’s character.  I give it 4/5 stars!

Sometimes the best date and person to pull you out of a funk is yourself…  Other times, though you might know it to be true it is damn hard… I suggest looking at yourself in the mirror.  If you don’t like what you see make a deal with that person to take at least a baby step to fix it 🙂

Glad you were able to pull yourself out of the funk, especially on your birthday. I know it may not have been the one you wanted as you were stuck at boring old home but I am glad you were able to turn it into something good.

Happy birthday, a day late but you are always so cryptic about it I don’t think I ever knew which day was the actual day!

Hehehe thanks Michelle. I am enjoying my days off now, don’t go back to work until next week now. And ya no harm done, it usually is a mystery!

Very cool that you liked the movie. I really liked it too even though it is not the type of movie I would normally be drawn to. I went to see it because I love George Clooney but was surprized by how much I actually liked it.

I can see now why you love Italy. I hope I get there someday.

Okay so that wasn’t the best movie choice I’ve ever made but it did have Josh Duhamel in it. LOL
