Well this Saturday I had a pleasant addition to my plans for the day. I talked with my neighbor and co-worker Marilyn and she invited me to go to Capital Ex (formerly known as Klondike Days) with our friend Bev. Capital Ex is the summer exhibition for Alberta’s Capital city Edmonton and more than 800 thousand people attend this event each year.
I could only go for a couple of hours but the weather was great and we were going to be there by noon when the gates opened. So I grabbed my camera and headed off to the fair grounds with Bev and Marilyn.
I had 3 goals for the day and accomplished them all!
Goal 1 – Buy MINI-DONUTS!!!!!!!!
Goal 2 – Look at all the crazy wares the vendors were selling in the Agricom
Goal 3 – Take photos of the Exhibition to try and capture the spirit of the event while experimenting with my camera

Goal 2 we definitely accomplished! We went up and down methodically through all the isles looking at every oddity being sold, traded, advertised, or demonstrated. At the first booth I stopped at I had the pain “magically” removed from my arm (that didn’t have pain to begin with) with a special cream that had quite a strong smell. Then while Bev got her palms read and Marilyn got her tarot cards read I got a “Free Spiritual Reading”. Note: I didn’t say physic reading which is what I was expecting. It was a “Bring the love of Jesus into your heart” outreach booth. I was cool with all of it and the lady was really nice but I got a bit leery when she started to pray in her unrecognizable “heavenly language”. So to be safe, I combated her prayer with my own. For all I know she could be hexing me or giving me subliminal suggestions. Next, Marilyn bought a really cool garlic shredder (which I would totally recommend). Rounding out our visit we saw all the staples that are there every year such as the miracle shammy, the steam mop, the Bamix mixer and many others.
Goal 3 I will let you be the judge of. If you have ever been to Klondike Days, Capital Ex, the Stampede or your cities similar event let me know if you think these pictures captured the summer festival experience.
Before you ask... nope I am still a vegetarian, this corn dog belongs to Bev
Were you there for the fireworks? I see them every night lol!

I have yet to see the fireworks but apparently you can see them from the hill near my house as well. I should take my camera out tonight if I remember and try to capture them!
