Well in fact tonight’s broadcast of “Chuck” WAS your grandpa’s 3D. You know the red and cyan colored paper glasses. That is what was required tonight.
What I picked up from my friend Michelle was the newer Disney Digital 3D. Here is a brief explanation from Wikipedia.
Audiences viewing a film presented by Real D are given a pair of plastic 3D glasses. The glasses have circular polarized lenses, each polarized differently. Circular polarization allows much greater head movement than linear polarization without loss of 3D effect or ghost images. This increases audience comfort and helps to mitigate the “3D headache” caused by many 3D systems, especially those relying on film projection.
“Chuck” and the Sobe’s Superbowl commercials required the older style with the red and cyan filters. So no biggie, I am currently recording the second showing of Chuck to DVD and I will watch it again when I obtain some “Old school 3D” glasses.
Side Note: I am excited to experience this new Disney 3D that seems to be coming on strong because I am one of those people that gets “3D headache”.
Sorry man, who knew? If I come across any old school 3D glasses I will let you know.
