My First Tether

Tethered

Today I move one step further into the world of ever connectedness! I am typing this blog post from the cabin on my laptop. The cabin that is on a lake, in the country, with just power. How am I connected to the internet? Via my iPhone! I called TELUS today and confirmed that my iPhone data plan includes tethering as part of my normal data usage. They said it did and so I hooked up my iPhone to my laptop and after a simple driver installation… Presto! Internet!

Not sure exactly how often I would need this feature. Especially since my iPhone itself is uber connected to the internet. However it is awesome to type on a normal sized keyboard with all my laptop settings and a 17″ screen.

You will also notice from the image above that I changed the default language on my iPod to Spanish, along with many other devices. It is an attempt to constantly immerse myself in Spanish more than just my yearly visit to Cuba. More blog posts to come on this topic in the future.

Ummmmm fast… I didn’t actually do a speed test, but it wasn’t very noticeably slow. Kinda like internet at work on a bad network day where things have a small lag to it I would say. Let’s just say that for being relaxed and chill at the cabin the speed didn’t drive me insane.
