Picture it… Sicily 1912
Oh wait it was Edmonton and it was today but you can still picture it…
I got off work at 4:05 so I could catch the 4:07 bus…
Reached into my pocket for a bus ticket and I have no tickets…
Not a problem I can buy tickets from the nasty man that is always sold out of tickets but he might have some…
Wait I only have $20, $100, and a quarter in my wallet and bus tickets are $21…
One ride on the bus is $2.50…
The nasty man won’t take a $100…
The vending machines in the subway wouldn’t work and even if they did I wouldn’t want $79 in change from them…
I don’t want to use the bank machine to take out more money and get charged a service fee of $2.50 the price of a bus ride…
Whatever I do, I have sooooo missed my bus already…
Quick what do I do?
Give everyone the virtual finger including myself for not buying more tickets at the pool the night before and WALK HOME!
Totally wasn’t prepared but I didn’t care. The walk was very brisk, at times my feet sinking deep into the snow, dancing across the ice covered bridge, trudging through slush on the roads, but I did make it home. I actually felt rather invigorated, saved $2.50, burnt 294 calories, and had nice red cheeks! Sure my legs were numb but that is nothing a nice hot bubble bath didn’t fix.
Nicely done, sometimes the little annoyances turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Good on yeah for taking the opportunity to enjoy the winter.
