The last time I experienced bug bites while travelling I was in the Czech Republic. Those were definitely bed bugs. This trip the fun started in Rome. Not bed bugs but nasty mosquito bites. Odd because they don’t bite me in Canada.
I moved to Athens and they started to get better and disappear. Now I am in Turkey and a whole new kind of bite is showing up. I am just a big itchy mess right now! Just in case we switched my bed to a top bunk tonight. We will see if that helps. I don’t think it is bed bugs but it was their idea to move me. These new bites are almost like hives. Regardless being itchy in a foreign country is almost as bad as being sick. I will keep you updated on my progress. Looking forward to a cooler country soon, hopefuly bug free!

Can you find Calamine lotion in Turkey? That would help with the itchiness. If they are more like hives, it’s probably some sort of allergic reaction. Reactine would probably help – if you can find it there. Sorry to hear about this. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Neil – my sister in law and brother who have lived in Turkey for 3 years recommend that you go a the Pharmacy and request ‘Sexadyne’ – this is a anti histamine (sp) or request ‘Ciproo’ or Ciproxin’ , an anti biotic- I agree with Bev – this sounds like an allergic reaction.

Good news everyone! Well I hope! I went to the pharmacy here and bought myself some Vivafeks which contains Feksofenadin HCL LOL which is an Antihistaminik! The itching has almost all gone away and while the bumps remain I think some are getting a bit smaller finally! Thanks for the advice!
