Well it does bite and it doesn’t. I went to the beach in Athens and it was almost NOT worth it. Where in Rome it was a very speedy (yet long) train ride, Athens was a very painful, crammed, slow moving Tram ride out to the beaches. Still very doable though because for 3 Euro you can get a daypass for the metro in Athens and the tram is included in that.
When I finally made it out to the beach all my troubles melted away and I had a GREAT day! Again there were lots of beaches to choose from. I chose the very last beach on the Tram. Not very crowded, good prices, clean water, good food, and a sunbed and umbrella with my name on it. I did a very minor amount of sun tanning, took a small swim, and then took a 2 hour nap in the shade listening to the waves crashing at the small pebble beach shore. However during my small swim I did get bite! A very small fish nibbled at my back as I was floating and I swear just like the cartoons I shot directly out of the water! Once I saw the fish that bite me I was laughing uncontrollably.
I would have taken pictures to share with you all however after having all my stuff stolen on the beach in Italy a couple years ago I don’t bring ANYTHING to the beach anymore, and also who wants to be the creepy guy on the beach alone with a camera? LOL
