Neil & the Avocado stalk

Avocado sprout

What a surprise this was to come home to from Montreal! My avocado took off like crazy. I did like I said I would and left it under a small drip in the bathroom to keep it watered. As you can see it didn’t seem to mind. I have now moved it to the living room for more light. I measured it two days after I took this photo and it was up to 14 inches tall! It killed me to do it, but I followed the instructions and pinched off about 2 inches from the top. I hate pruning, especially brand new shoots like this. But really, I have to be smart about this. I live in an apartment not a forest.

Take a look at the cool markings it has on the trunk!

As long as it doesn’t grow as big as this tree outside Lucia’s apartment in Montreal I should be OK…

  • If it gets out of hand you can put it in my back yard :)

Do you think it would survive? If they lived here you would think everyone would have one. I hope to have a house with an indoor green room complete with pond for it :-)

You’re freaking me out, just yesterday I was on my way home from work and your avocado tree popped into my head for some unknown reason and I wondered how it was doing and now here is an update. I am loving the progress and very glad it doesn’t look like an alien egg anymore.
