I am a HUGE fan of free WiFi (Wireless Internet)! Especially when I travel. In fact I will often choose hostels over other hostels if they advertise free WiFi services. Even better if it is available all over the hostel including the rooms and not just the lobby.
In the past using my iPod Touch I was able to surf the net from the comfort of my bunk beds in foreign countries checking e-mail, researching sites, booking future hostels, or even blogging. Sadly my iPod is still lost but I am still on the trek to obtain a new one before my next big trip.
Most airports will also have WiFi however it usually isn’t free. The odd one will have ad based internet. You watch a commercial, then you get 15 mins free. Total pain because you have to start over every 15 mins and you usually only get to do it 3 times.
However on this recent trip to Montréal (YUL) I discovered this new gem!
There is a new iStore boutique at departure gate A47. It is very cute and made me miss by iPod even more but it also offers…. you guessed it FREE WiFi! You simply need to walk into the store and ask them what the password is and you are connected! So next time you are in Montréal I hope this is still available to you!
Wow! That is pretty cool. I usually cheat while I’m vacation and “browse” at the apple store to check my email (when the hotel doesn’t have free computer access). Never seen one in an airport before though.
Although I was intrigued by the apple vending machine at the Vegas airport where you could by an ipod or video game console (nintendo ds) and games…Had to grab a pic of that. What will they think of next…..
